Options and variants

Variants and options both let customers choose, but they work differently. A variant is its own product with its own price, like a half dozen vs a dozen. An option set is a reusable list of choices, like frosting flavors, that you attach to many products.

Add a variant

  1. 1

    Open the product

Go to Manage → Products & Options → Products and tap the product.

  2. 2

    Open the Variants tab

    Tap Create Variant.

  3. 3

    Fill it in

Give it a name and price, add a photo if you like, then tap Create Variant.

Create an option set

  1. 1

    Open Options

Go to Manage → Products & Options → Options and tap +.

  2. 2

    Name it

Give the set a Name, like Toppings.

  3. 3

    Set the rules

Turn on Required if customers must choose, then set Minimum selections and Maximum selections. Turn on Allow repeats to let them pick the same choice more than once.

  4. 4

    Add choices

Tap Add, then enter each Option name and its price. Leave the price at 0.00 for no extra charge.

  5. 5

    Save

    Tap Save.

Attach options to a product

Open the product, tap the Options tab, choose option sets, and tap Save Options. These choices become the default whenever you add the product to a drop.

Options on a drop

In the drop's Menu step, tap On menu, then tap a product with options to open it. Tap its Options row to turn single choices on or off for this drop, or set a Stock cap on a choice. Leave Stock cap empty for unlimited.

What you see after orders come in

Each order lists the chosen options and their prices. The drop's Bake List shows how many of each option to make.

FAQ

Should I use a variant or an option?
Use a variant when it's really a different item with its own price and cap, like a dozen vs a half dozen. Use options for add-ons or picks within one item, like fillings or toppings.
What happens if I delete an option set?
It's removed from every product that uses it. To make a similar set, tap Duplicate on the set and edit the copy instead.
